Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu | Pondicherry–Cuddalore Diocese
The Good Shepherd Sisters of the CEIN Province joyfully inaugurated a new mission on June 4, 2025, at Ayandur Village, Villupuram District, in the Pondicherry–Cuddalore Diocese. This mission is dedicated to offering compassionate care and holistic empowerment to the rural poor and marginalized communities.
A Significant Milestone
This foundation marks a significant milestone, commemorating the centenary of the Good Shepherd mission in Chennai and 25 years of faithful service in Salem. It carries forward the vision of St. Mary Euphrasia, who believed that “each soul is worth more than the entire world.”
Inauguration & Celebration
The inauguration was blessed by the Archbishop of Pondicherry and Cuddalore and coincided with the St. Antony’s Church Flag Festival. The celebration brought together villagers, Church leaders, and dignitaries from India and Nepal, reflecting unity, joy, and shared commitment.
The mission is the fruit of ongoing dialogue with local leaders, including Fr. Sahaya Celestine and Mr. Antony Dass, ensuring that it responds meaningfully to the real needs of the community.
Three Core Pillars of Service
Pastoral Care
offering spiritual accompaniment and healing
Social Empowerment
promoting skill development, women’s empowerment, and education for children
Community Engagement
fostering unity, dialogue, and local participation
Mission Leadership
The mission is lovingly led by Sr. Vinnarasi and Sr. Rubi Kala, later joined by Sr. Swathi. Their presence reflects deep commitment, prayerful service, and close collaboration with the local community.
The mission also honors Sr. Arockiamary and Sr. Monica D’Silva, daughters of Ayandur, whose vocations inspired the Good Shepherd Sisters’ presence in this village.
Our Vision
Through strong partnerships with Church leaders, local authorities, and villagers, the Ayandur Mission aspires to become a beacon of faith, compassion, and holistic transformation—reaching unreached regions and touching lives far beyond Ayandur.
